HPS Ltd is a UK based consultancy service company that provides expert advice to any government department or private company considering using, or developing a modern Helium airship or hybrid air vehicle for civil or security applications. This service is mostly provided by the director, a commercial airship captain who has 25 years and 9000 hrs flying mostly Zeppelin nt,  Skyship 500 and 600 series airships in the USA, Canada, Caribbean, Europe, Greece, Australia and South Korea. The director has previously worked for Airship Industries (UK), DZR (Germany), Skycruise (Switzerland), AMS (USA) and Hybrid Air Vehicles (UK).
The main focus of HPS Ltd is safety and efficiency oversight contracts that of are of great use to a customer, both during the final contract negotiations and after a contract is signed by an LTA vehicle manufacturer or operator.
The owner and director of HPS Ltd  might be away from base overseas, but is available to provide free advice by e mail or skype and can also provide contact information for all of the modern airship companies or operational personnel.
Initial consultation is free, but if the enquiry is of a prolonged, complex or professional nature, a fee will be discussed and an invoice sent.

From pedal powered airships to Hybrids, HPS Ltd can provide expert guidance.

Picture
HPS Ltd can help steer your company or government department in the right direction when it comes to any matter concerning modern airships (Blimps and Zeppelins) or the new hybrid air vehicles.
There have been a surprising number of legal and financial difficulties encountered in the past, both by the customers of some airship companies and with investors in future airship development projects.
Very few people fully understand the complexities involved with airship operations or the practical possibilities for the development of airships in the future. This lack of understanding is also complicated by the ability of many airship companies to overstate the performance and limitations of their product or project.

CONTACT FORM FOR REGISTERED BUSINESS MAIL ONLY
Unfortunately we only reply to private mail at our discretion, also the director is too busy to talk to "Blimp spotters" and other "Anoraks" at present, although contacts from the media are always welcome. If you want to know our full registered office address in Basingstoke, see:
    http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk or E Mail: enquiries@companies-house.gov.uk

We will reply from our own business e mail address after the initial enquiry is screened and checked for correct IP and other details. Once we switch to using our business e mail address, that will imply the enquiry is being taken seriously in terms of a possible contract for an LTA sector manufacturer or operator.

Comment: This is one great idea and I would love to win the first blimp race around the world. This would be the first circumnavigation by airship, as the Graf Zeppelin that flew around the world covered a distance that is less than the tropic of cancer and stayed in the northern hemisphere, so in record terms it does not count as a circumnavigation.

Comment: Due to global warming the ice roads of northern Canada only last half as long as they used to and the cost of building all weather roads
or airports for every northern community is prohibitive. Ultimately the only solution will be point to point cargo hybrid air vehicles and the market for such vehicles is very significant in Canada, Afghanistan and Siberia, due partly to increased mining or gas field development.

Lockheed Martin's Hale D high altitude airship first flight crash:  http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/regional/s_749190.html
Comment: If you want to waste 150 million dollars, try giving it to a company that has almost no idea how to design and manufacture airships of any type. High altitude airships are very difficult in design and construction terms, as they operate near to the ultimate strength limits of the Helium filled envelope, which in this case suffered a, "Helium level anomaly at 32,000 ft during the first climb to a planned 60,000 ft"  and then caught fire a few days later. All that is left of the Hale D is a few burnt trees and a polluted stream.
General comment: O
ne of the reasons why there is an urgent need for hybrid air vehicles like the HAV 266 or 366 is for fuel efficient long range point to point cargo operations direct from mine site to final processing plant or urgent spare parts location. The only countries with undeveloped rare earth deposits on any scale are Afghanistan and Northern Canada. Nearly all the new potential mine sites have no road, rail, river or airport anywhere near them and most will need serious point to point air cargo support to function. Unfortuntely they do not have a fuel station for heavy lift helicopters either, not that they have the range to do the tasks involved without multiple fuel dumps and building an all weather airport next to each site is far too expensive. There is no other type of vehicle that can do the job except a HAV which can do both heavy lift or long range cargo tasks. Shorter range heavy lift operations can also be conducted with a hybrid air vehicle in a very fuel efficient manner.

Hybrid airships can revolutionize logistics by moving the supply chain above the battle space to deliver large volumes of cargo directly to the point of effect, without the need for an airfield or roads. By delivering directly, hybrid airships bypass many supply-chain "touches," thereby reducing cost and risk. The continued exploration of the  hybrid airship concept is essential to support future operations in austere and  infrastructure-challenged locales where USTRANSCOM will likely be required to  support military or humanitarian relief operations.

Northrop Grumman are teamed with Hybrid Air Vehicles in Cardington, England. LONDON FINANCIAL TIMES ARTICLE

Picture
UK group secures commercial airship deal.
A British company will take a big step towards returning airships to commercial service after more than 70 years on Wednesday when it announces its first customer in a deal that could lead to orders for up to 45 air vehicles worth more than £2bn ($3.3bn).
Hybrid Air Vehicles, a privately owned company based in Cranfield, will announce that it has signed an agreement with Canada’s Discovery Air, a Toronto-listed specialist aviation company, to develop an airship capable of  carrying a 50 tonne payload, which can operate without the need of an airstrip and land almost anywhere, including
on water.
Discovery Air, whose customers include mining and oil and gas companies exploring in some of the world’s most
inhospitable and remote regions, will partner with HAV on the project to develop the airship and get it through the
certification process that any new aircraft must undergo. Stephen “Fig” Newton, director of business development at Discovery Air, said that, pending the successful certification of the airship, the company was planning to place
an order for between 10 and 45 vehicles. “We already have more than 130 operational aircraft so we look at the airship as a natural extension of our fleet,” he told the Financial Times.
Gary Elliot, chief executive of HAV, described the deal with Discovery Air as “absolutely huge for us. It means we have our first commercial client and one that shares the same outlook and philosophy”. He said each airship would cost between $30m and $50m. HAV aims to have the first airship in commercial cargo service in 2014, 77 years
after the Hindenburg disaster in New Jersey that ended the era of passenger-carrying airships. HAV is already building a smaller version of its airship as part of a $517m contract it won in partnership with Northrop Grumman, the US defence contractor, to supply three lighter than air  vehicles to the US  army for battlefield surveillance.
Most of the rigid structures for the first hybrid air vehicle are being manufactured in  one of the big hangars at Cardington in Bedfordshire, which was where the UK’s airship industry started early last century. The HAV design looks nothing like the cigar-shaped early airships and is more like a large flying wing, hence the term “hybrid”, since the shape of the vehicle helps generate lift along with the mixture of non-flammable helium and  air that produces buoyancy. The hybrids are powered by four engines that rotate to help it manoeuvre and are also fitted with hover cushions that allow it to take off and land almost anywhere.

TRANS ATLANTIC AND CIRCUMNAVIGATION PROPOSAL

Picture
Although this web site is still under construction, it is now in use in the search for a major sponsor in the form of a large international marketing company, major international company or significant private individual, interested in supporting the proposal for a trans Atlantic crossing and first true circumnavigation by airship.
The Graf Zeppelin did a world tour in 1929, but as you can see from the map, it stayed in the Northern hemisphere and failed to complete the required distance.
